In this imaginary scene, a waterfall cascading between two slender peaks sends up mist in the lagoon below. A small fishing hut overlooks the lagoon from the plateau of a nearby island. Down a rocky path from the hut, a fishing boat is moored in the calm water.

The mica tray is hand-burnished and waxed. The markings along the right edge are the Chinese characters for “shan” (mountains) and “chuan” (streams).
