feather rock and Malaysian driftwood fountain with handmade cranes

Malaysian driftwood melds with heavily eroded feather rock from Arizona for this composition. The individual pieces were positioned carefully, but little sculpting was required to allow these diverse materials to fit together so well - perhaps a lesson there for humanity.

The unforced harmony of these diverse materials is echoed by the two cranes, symbols of fidelity in countries as diverse as Turkey and Japan. The Korean tray, a casting of 85% mica and graphite, was hand-rubbed, but otherwise left unfinished.
