The Andaman Islands are part of an archipelago of 572 islands that divides the Bay of Bengal east of India and the Andaman Sea, west of Thailand. Among the most dramatic of these islands are karst limestone towers, such as those in Phang Nga Bay, between Phuket and the mainland of Southern Thailand. Massive tectonic activity that formed this area millions of years ago continues even today.

This composition, created from a single feather rock boulder, reflects the sheer cliffs, caves, and forests of the Andaman Islands. The Korean tray, a casting of 85% mica and graphite, was sealed, hand burnished, and waxed.
