This composition was inspired by the work of well-known penjing artist Qingquan Zhao, in particular his water-and-land penjing entitled “Leaving the Gorge”.*

A tall mountain split by a waterfall towers over a small temple poised on a cliff. Behind the temple, a grove of ivy climbs the rock face, as the waterfall cascades down into the gorge below.
