Corian remnants in a variety of colors were inlaid to create this composition depicting the shoreline environment of the elegant Pacific Reef Egret.

Usually a lone hunter, the Pacific Reef Egret can be found searching for fish, crustaceans and insects on the rocky shores, beaches, and tidal streams of Asia, India, Southeast Asia, Japan, Polynesia, as well as Australia, Tasmania, and New Zealand.

The egret is symbolic to many cultures. As a Chinese symbol, it represents strength, purity, patience and long life. At home in the air, water, and on land, the egret also embodies a spirit of balance, working with the elements of nature rather than against them.
