This composition recalls the striking landscape of Wulingyuan, an island of nature within a heavily populated agricultural region of China’s Hunan Province. To preserve its natural beauty, Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area is protected by the Chinese government and designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In addition to Wulingyuan’s spectacular jagged stone peaks, luxuriant vegetation, and clear lakes and streams, the region is home to a number of endangered plant and animal species.
